Castello di Meleto Rosso Toscano 2006 IGT

From Tuscany comes this 100% Sangiovese with resinous aromas of ripe cherries and a subtle suggestion of minerality, almost like shoe polish, chased by aspects of cola, cherries and berries on the palate. Opened to an integrated pleasant fruitiness that worked very well with our valentine's day dinner at Il Poeta.

Paired with Cannelloni di Vitello gratinati al formaggio tartufato (home made pasta filled with veal and vegetables baked with béchamel sauce and truffle cheese), and Tagliolini del Poeta home made pasta in porcini mushroom sauce wrapped with smoked prosciutto.
